Westminster College

Westminster College hosts a One-Stop Graduate and Adult Professional Services unit (GAPS). Here, students are assigned an advocate who will help them with academic advising, registration, and finances. The GAPS staff is on call to support students as they need it, and coaching is available to learners online and in person. Westminster College’s relatively flat organizational structure also provides for a unique partnership between faculty and staff. This is important so that both faculty and staff can provide efficient and effective wraparound support to students.

Every two weeks, faculty have coaching sessions with students to discuss projects and skills related to project completion. This can take place through whichever medium works best for students including video-chat, phone, etc. Westminster faculty are held to a 48-hour policy to respond to any student email inquiries as well as a 72-hour policy to return all submissions with written feedback. In order to master competencies, students must incorporate faculty coaching feedback. In this way, regular and substantive interactions are mandatory in order to master competencies at Westminster College.
