Tempo Learning is Walden University’s direct-assessment, competency-based education experience. As one of the early members of the Competency-Based Education Network, Walden University has played an active role in drafting and adopting CBEN’s Quality Framework. Specifically, the university used the framework to create curriculum quality indicators that are used to guide competency-based curriculum development. The indicators Walden developed were published as part of a case study in the Journal of Competency-Based Education. In addition to using the quality framework to guide curriculum development, Walden University used the quality framework to create Key Performance Indicators for both faculty and academic coaches who support students in our learning model.
