University System of Georgia

The University System of Georgia’s Middle Georgia State University has unbundled the faculty model into three roles: the success coach who acts as a general (not purely academic) advisor, the instructional strategist who is a generalist in the area of study and can provide tutoring, and the instructor who is a subject matter expert and responsible for the design, development, and assessment of competencies. Within the School of Health Sciences, feedback and data from the Learner Management System, success coaches, or instructional strategist may indicate that a learner is struggling. At this point, a success coach or instructional strategist may schedule a synchronous learning session to work on the difficult competencies.
