Middle Georgia State University, one of the 29 institutions within the University System of Georgia, uses a Learner Centered Instructional Design Model to develop a continuum of learning in which learning culminates in mastery of competencies. These competencies are then demonstrated in a real work environment, and both simulated and project based learning may act as alternatives. Many of the learners in their competency-based education program are working healthcare providers, and as such, the Middle Georgia State University expects them to engage in and apply the knowledge gained in the program in their workplace.
