What we do

C-BEN’s consultants can help you no matter where you are on your CBE journey.

A 2 hour workshop that explains the nuts and bolts of what CBE is, and the various ways it can serve your learners.

(Virtual) 4 hours of coaching for executives and strategic teams to facilitate the development a strategic plan to implement CBE.

Can be virtual or in-person half- day leadership retreat.

(In-person) 2 days. This high-energy, in-person workshop will kick start your CBE effort by bringing together key stakeholders to establish a shared vision and design plans to meet goals for CBE programs, including but not limited to developing a timeline, establishing working teams, and beginning to design your CBE programs.

Build.

Develop a CBE program or improve existing programs.

(Virtual) Three workshops for instructional faculty to learn how to build a CBE curriculum. Workshops include access to a coach who provides feedback.

(In person) In-person workshops to guide faculty on quality CBE curriculum and teaching and learning practices with the support of C-BEN consultants.

An expert review of existing programs using C-BEN’s Quality Framework. Includes a feedback session with the quality reviewer as well as customized coaching to support implementation planning for improvements.

Implement.

Deploy a CBE program.

(18 to 24 month schedule) A dedicated C-BEN consultant works with leaders on a customized implementation plan for your organization and guides teams as programs are launched. Can include advisory services, solution development, research services, and tailored workshops unique to your needs.

(Virtual) This series of virtual workshops and personalized coaching offer teams working on implementing CBE in-depth support for designing policies and practices in:

  • Student services
  • Financial aid/bursar/registrar
  • Admissions/Recruitment
  • Business operations
  • Faculty models, instruction, and assessment
  • Student success coaching and advising

C-BEN experts are available on a one-on-one basis as to provide guidance for specialized topics or short-term engagements

Scale.

Increase the reach of your CBE programs

Expert one-on-one guidance and advisory for executive leaders with existing CBE programs seeking program growth and evolution

(Virtual or in person) For teams already running CBE programs we are here for you as you navigate common challenges like capacity to increase enrollments, moving faculty from overload to in-load, or employer engagement, C-BEN will provide an expert to help troubleshoot and develop solutions.

Advance.

Creating Skills-Based Systems

C-BEN staff provide strategic guidance, policy analysis, blueprints, and scalable competency-based solutions for governments, agencies, systems, and global employers to shift to a competency-based ecosystem and connect to a skills-based economy. This work often includes creating system level competency ontologies and taxonomies to align education and workforce, building CBE curricula, designing microcredential to degree pathways, establishing assessment centers for skills validation, and enabling technologices such as digital wallets and LERs. All of this alongside policy analysis for barriers and incentives to scale desired outcomes. Partners have included Illinois, Kentucky, Alabama, Navajo Nation, Massachusets Common Group
